What are Instrumental Studies?
Band-in-a-Box® Instrumental Studies are performances that can help you learn to play background or solo guitar (or piano or saxophone) in many different styles. They focus on common chord progressions, great playing, great notation, tab, on-screen guitar or piano, and printout. Load and play, slow them down, and learn as you imitate the guitar or piano part that you see on the on-screen guitar or big piano.
Instrumental Studies Set 22 and Instrumental Studies Set 23 is included in the 2025 49-PAK.

Instrumental Studies Set 16 gives you 6 smooth fusion guitar workouts! With these studies you can listen and play along with a master jazz soloist, viewing the notes in notation and TAB, with all the bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs and more, notated precisely, and you can also view the notes in the on-screen guitar fretboard. Instrumental Studies 15: Minor Jazz Blues Guitar Soloing
Along with "rhythm changes" and "jazz blues", Minor Jazz Blues is one of the most common progressions in jazz, and is one that most teachers will agree is very important to master for a jazz student. With Instrumental Studies 15, you can study guitar solos by master guitarist Oliver Gannon, playing minor blues progressions in 5 common keys: Am, Cm, Dm, Em and Gm. With well articulated and dynamic phrases, each different key is a unique performance. Each track has high quality notation and tablature showing all of the slides, hammer on and pull offs and other techniques needed to learn this style of music. As each phrase flows fluently from one chord to the next, adjust the tempo up or down to suit your playing ability and learn at your own speed.
